One of Forester's less well-known novels set during and shortly after World War 1. Great story of Randall's adventure and ordeal as a young and fresh officer of the British army, thrown into a horrific battle in Flanders. Randall survives the war, is de-mobbed and comes back to Muriel... Muriel is disappointed in married life and life takes a turn for the worse when Randall finds her in bed with another man.
