Pearly Gates (Sellers) is a cockney thief and leader of London's most successful robbery gang. Everything goes well until the police start arriving with monotonous regularity to confiscate the loot.
Pearly soon realises there is a traitor in he midst so he decides to make a deal with the police. His plan however is to arrange a robbery and getaway of his own.

The crooks in London know how it works. No one carries guns and no one resists the police. Then a new gang appears that go one better. They dress as police and steal from the crooks. This upset's the natural order of the police & criminal relationship so the police and the crooks join forces to catch the Impersonating Police Officers.
