"Mary Honer came to ballet from commercial work that accentuated the mechanical side of dancing at the expense of the technical. Her problem has been one of adaptation, and she is succeeding with rapidity. Technically outstanding though she is, her physique is more suited to soubrette roles than those of the ballerina; but she is a good enough artist to fill many demi-caractère parts with distinction and to show ability as an actress in anything not lyrical or romantic. Her Bride in Wedding Bouquet shows an admirable sense of humour.

Honer's concentration on technique, at the present time when artistry is stressed sometimes at its expense, makes her an important member of a young company".
